Kensington                                                           Pictures & Video     Police Precinct #70
The area south of Prospect Park and the Green-Wood Cemetery. It is bordered by Coney Island Avenue to the east, Caton Avenue/ Ft. Hamilton Parkway to the north, Dahill Road and 36th St to the west, and Foster Avenue and 47th Street to the south.

Have not visited here yet.   Here is what others have written about Kensington.  There are all sorts of apartments, nice, drab and in-between.  It's very dirty and there is a lot of graffiti. Looks a lot like Southside Williamsburg without the brick buildings. Decent area otherwise, seems safe enough.

One person wrote this in 2007: NYC is experiencing its lowest levels of crime in many years. As a Kensington resident, I feel the neighborhood is quite safe - I walk constantly, and there is a really nice family quality that is visible within the neighborhood.

From another poster:  "Born and raised in Kensington. Perfectly safe, but it really doesn't have any identity, kind of no man's land. 30 years ago it was heavily Irish and Italian, today it is just a completely random mix- The high rises on ocean parkway tend to be newer Russian immigrants. Coney island avenue, the northern boundary of the neighborhood is referred to as little Pakistan, and certain blocks bordering on boro park and midwood are entirely Hasidic. All very nice people but tend to be kind of insular.  Rents are comparably cheap to some other areas closer to Manhattan, and you wont find any starbucks around here. However, like the rest of NY, you jump on a train and you're in an area with restaurants and nightlife in 20 mins."
