Mom's Opinion?: I spent a day in the Canal Street area taking pictures. It is my opinion that those who do not belong in the community are not welcome as far as living goes. Everyone is welcome as far as shopping goes and there is a lot of shopping. You can find megadeals on Canal Street. It does have a good deal of unsavory characters wandering the streets though. And, as you might suspect, it is filled with Chinese People - many who don't speak much English at all. It is a charming place. I had the opportunity to walk some of the off-the-path non touristy streets and I found it to be lovely.
